Sophia’s Steps Charity – The Fun Fair Edition was a day full of joy in a vibrant fairground and circus atmosphere!

For young and old alike: duck fishing, ring toss, a bouncy castle, face painting, a balloon artist, and so much more. Sweet treats included popcorn, cotton candy, and goodies from the candy shop.

Guests enjoyed a delicious all-you-can-eat BBQ buffet provided by Hemelsoet Catering. And to complete the vibe: great beats and energy by DJ Finch.

Who and why this charity event?

We organized this charity event for Sophia, our daughter of nearly 4 years old. Her development was normal until she started limping at 1.5 years old. What initially seemed harmless turned out to be the beginning of a rare, incurable disease: Aicardi-Goutières Syndrome.

This condition causes, among other things, spasticity in her legs, preventing her from walking independently.

Sophia continues to fight every single day. With your support, we want to keep giving her access to intensive therapies such as rehabilitation with a walking robot (TRAINM) and ABR therapy. These treatments bring hope—for improved mobility, greater independence, and above all, a better quality of life.
